LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA – John C. Drew, Ph.D., the president of Lightning Fast spoke to the members of the Grant Professionals Association of Orange County Chapter (GPAOC) on the topic of “More Grants, Faster: Lightning Fast Techniques for Writing Government Grants” from Noon to 1:30 PM on May 4, 2022.
The theme of Dr. Drew’s talk was how grant writers can dramatically improve their success with government grants by finding ways to speed up or reduce, the decisions they make as both grant writers and small group leaders. Over the course of the talk, the attendees learned the following key points:
- Why high-speed grant writing is key to improving the quality and quantity of your applications.
- How to improve the speed of your decision-making by using voice recognition software.
- How to develop the ideal habits consistent with high-speed grant writing.
- Five tips for reducing unnecessary or wasteful decision-making in government grant writing.
Dr. Drew’s presentation was designed to cover key Grant Professional Certification (GPC) Competencies including:
Competency #4: Knowledge of how to craft, construct, and submit an effective grant application
03. Identify project management strategies for submitting high-quality and complete proposals on time
Dr. Drew was invited to provide this presentation to the members of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Orange County chapter by Oswaldo “Ozzie” Perez, the GPA Orange County chapter president. Later, Mr. Perez provided the following recommendation:
“On behalf of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Orange County Chapter, I am delighted to recommend Dr. John Drew’s workshop MORE GRANTS, FASTER: LIGHTNING FAST TECHNIQUES FOR GOVERNMENT GRANTS.
“Dr. Drew presented to a small audience of grant professionals from across the GPA nationwide network. He is a wealth of information and provided us with time-saving (and potentially cost-saving) tips for more efficient grant writing. The most helpful for me, and many other attendees, were his innovative uses of technology (e.g. speech-to-text dictation tools, artificial intelligence).
“The presentation and Q&A portions were well worth our time (around 90 minutes for this group). Having a small audience provided a more personalized and engaging workshop experience. Grant professionals, especially those who are in very small grants teams or are a “grants department of one”, would benefit greatly from his techniques. Dr. Drew’s passions extend well beyond the grants profession. His presentation would benefit audiences of all sizes and include other professionals who are de facto grant writers for their organizations.”
